New Year Resolutions

I don't make New Year's Resolutions on December 31st.

Because I NEVER stick to them.

I do make New Year's Resolutions in September for the new school year though. I also make them at the start of the summer.

I tend to stick to the summer ones. The September resolutions rarely last. That's because they involve professional clothes and blowouts. Let's be real. I'm a simple girl.

And blowdrying my hair with a round brush and a collection of hair products is not simple. It's fancy. I'm not fancy.

So...What are your New Year's Resolutions for the 2010-2011 school year?

As a first year teacher, my resolution is to be ORGANIZED! I am constantly reminding myself to be on top of it....it is so easy to just throw everything into a pile. I keep thinking in terms of next year.....not to rush this year away. But I keep thinking how much easier everything will be next year if I keep all of my files and such organized, esp. the files on my computer.

I'm happy to say - so far, so good :)

Organization. It has been my resolution for the last 7 years. What does that tell you?!

Year after year my resolution for the new school year is always to improve my organizational skills...we've been in school 2 weeks now and so far...my guided reading table is still clear of piles of papers...hopefully this will last! :)

I wanted to do a blog about my class this year for the parents... I haven't started it yet but that was my goal... need to get on that!

I bought myself a new Vera Bradley tote bag for school and tucked a note card in it with the following goals written on it-exercise 4-5 times a week, keep desk and room organized (that is why I found your blog this summer), don't procrastinate on paperwork, more frequent communication with parents, dress better and try to buy or make a necklace to go with every out fit. I LOVE the start of a new school year!!!!!

I have decided that I will NOT allow myself to "skip" teaching writing, ever!... Not even on a really, really, non-writing sort of day. MUST WRITE DAILY. LOL

I am a fairly "young" teacher- this is my 3rd year. My New Years resolution is to have a life outside of school. Like, actually have fun on a school night and do something I enjoy. I'm hoping this way, the weekends won't seem like the only "me" time there is. I feel the last 2 years were full speed ahead...work til 6, go home and do more work, then get up early to go into work early...and then finally crash on the weekend. Not this year...I hope :).

To be more organized, to grade papers right away, and to keep a cleaner desk. So far, I'm doing it! Yippee!

One was staying organized which for the most part I've done so far(heading in to week 5).
Another is to track my kids growth more closely...so far so good on this too.
I don't do the blow outs either btw. I am a simple girl. wash and go with my hair(well I usually put it half up) and comfy work appropriate clothes every day(and shoes too)

I love this idea by the way.

My new years resolution is to do more school work at work and less school work at home. One of my favorite things to do is read and I have noticed recently that I have not been getting much time for pleasure reading. Yes, occationaly that includes reading professional books but mostly it's fiction novels. The only time I really get to sink my teeth into a book is during long weekends or holiday breaks. So there you go, there's my resolution.

On another note. I found this blog on Friday and proceded to read EVERY post. It took me all weekend but I was hooked and could not stop. I even went to work today telling other teachers about it! Thanks for putting this together, it is very muh appreciated.
